The good food served in the 30's in spite of the hard times and the burned out gardens, provided nutritious meals, though there never was quite enough to go around. Our large senior citizen population attests to the quality of the food. Children of that era today are getting older and many are still enjoying good health, while some mo thers who cooked those meals are still here to tell us their stories.
The recipes in this book are primarily from the 1930's or when food preservatives were unknown. Recipes used were gleaned from grandmo ther's files, not from old cookbooks, as remembered and told to the children of the mo thers who cooked these meals.
